The Importance of Safety at Rai Way

“Securing Safety”: Rai Way’s Commitment to Protecting Workers

From culture to practice, a journey through prevention and training to ensure a safe working environment.

Fieldwork means facing variables and unpredictability. Every day, our operators travel long distances on remote roads and in adverse weather conditions, or carry out delicate operations atop our broadcasting towers. We know that working safely in any context takes more than relying on equipment — it requires preparation, practice, and training.

At Rai Way, safety is far more than a regulatory requirement. It’s a culture — a commitment we uphold through hours of training, designed to equip our workforce to handle every kind of risk with confidence. That’s why our Recruiting & Learning team, in collaboration with the Head of the Prevention and Protection Service, develops mandatory training courses tailored to the specific requirements of each role.

Training in Action: hands-on preparation for every scenario

Alongside traditional classroom instruction, our training program includes pratical field-based courses designed to prepare employees for different working conditions. For example, the Safe Off-Road Driving Course was created for staff who must access remote sites. Here, participants learn to maintain vehicle control on rough terrain, simulating scenarios such as aquaplaning or sudden obstacle avoidance.

For those who work at height on towers and antennas, we offer the Work at Heights Course, conducted at a dedicated training facility. Every technician practices to develop agility and mental readiness — key to assessing risk at every moment.

But safety training isn’t limited to field technicians. We also provide First Aid Training for Managers, ensuring that anyone can respond in an emergency, regardless of their role. Additionally, we offer Fire Safety Training and Electrical Risk Training for those working with complex systems and equipment, promoting primary prevention and competent risk management.

At Rai Way, safety is never taken for granted. All employees follow regular refresher courses to stay current on best practices and to reinforce the precautions needed to protect themselves and others.

A Culture Built Day by Day

In 2024 alone, we delivered 9,531 hours of training on occupational health, safety, and environmental protection. These are tangible moments where our colleagues learn to recognize risks before they become issues — and to respond quickly, anywhere and anytime. Every course — whether focused on driving in extreme conditions or climbing 30 meters high — is a step forward in building a skilled and safety-conscious team.
