Milan-Cortina 2026: when the story takes shape, the network must already be ready

The start of the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games is the deadline for the preparation of all the infrastructure that will enable them to function and be broadcast. Behind the cameras are connections that are not so well known but are essential to ensure that we can all watch the queen of competitions, the sporting event par excellence.
For this occasion, Rai Way has successfully released two new redundant fiber optic circuits, integrating RAI's connections from its own infrastructure to the ad hoc control rooms at the Rai TV Production Center of Milan, in Corso Sempione. The first connects the spectacular “glass studio” of the Arco della Pace; the second connects the Triennale di Milano, home of Casa Italia.
Equally important are the fiber optic routes that Rai Way provides to enable live broadcasts :
- of the opening ceremony at the Meazza stadium
- and of Casa Italia for the Paralympics from the Allianz Tower
Television broadcasting of the Games requires a complex system: the images produced by the host broadcaster and collected at the International Broadcasting Center at MiCo are sent to the control rooms in Corso Sempione via a dedicated, secure connection that Rai Way has set up to cover the last leg. From there, new contribution links, released specifically for the event, signals are also sent to the RAI broadcast in Saxa Rubra (Rome).
Rai Way also temporarily hosts dedicated radio stations at its sites.
We work with the same commitment and passion as always to ensure the continuity and quality of broadcasts: even the coverage of the Games passes through our network before reaching the screens.
