From the 15th to the 31st of October, RAI’s television broadcasts gradually switched to digital terrestrial TV in all the Municipalities of Sardinia. The finalization of the “All Digital” regional program entailed the switch-off of all analogue television broadcasts and the final transition to digital terrestrial TV.

Therefore, as of the 1st of November 2008, Sardinia has become Europe’s first region to fully adopt the new television broadcasting standard, which means that RAI’s television broadcasts is now receivable only through a digital decoder.

In Sardinia, RAI’s digital services are comprehensively delivered through six multiplexes and comprise RAI’s digital programs and added-value interactive services (MHP) that, also thanks to the collaboration of local Institutions, enable users to view information of public interest.

In order to support the switchover to digital transmission, as of the 15th of September the Government has activated a 50 Euro State contribution towards the purchase of a digital decoder for all RAI subscribers who haven’t yet applied for one. The list of retailers can be viewed on the Web pages of the Ministero dello Sviluppo Economico-Comunicazioni.
